Claim Error: Insurance Type Code Missing (2320_SBR_05 Information)

Insurance Type Code is only is required for Medicare as Secondary. For this reason, you should have 2 separate carriers, one for primary and one only for secondary, that have the correct coding.

FIX:

1. Check the primary and secondary carriers.
   

   NOTE: If this carrier is really a secondary or if the regular Medicare carrier got added to the patient's Secondary slot by mistake.

2. To designate a carrier as a Medicare Secondary, follow these steps:      

Under Administration in the top main menu, click Carriers
Select the Carrier and right-click Select Edit Carrier Auxiliary Info...
Right-click select Add...
Use the drop-down to find & select Insurance Type Code
Click on the ellipsis (box with three dots) to view or select the value.  Click OK to Save.

Recommendation: Name the carrier with "Secondary" in the common name so that you can easily tell them apart when adding to a patient's case.
