Jump to Section [Staff Scheduling] [Layout Examples]
Throughout this chapter, we have covered a lot of different scenarios regarding scheduling patients with therapists and resources. However, the schedule could also be used to track other staff members as well.
Staff Scheduling
Since you have access to an unlimited number of views it is quite feasible to create view called "Office Staff". Each office member could be created as a resource and assigned work hours. If a staff member goes home early you could override their schedule with ‘Not Working’. The reporting system has the ability to track hours of therapists as well as resources, so you would be able to report on the total hours worked for each staff member. This same approach could be done with Technicians, Aids and the like.
Layout Examples
In the layout chapter we covered a lot of the basic layouts. 5 days scrolled 5 at a time or 7 days scrolled 7 at a time. Remember, you have an unlimited number of layouts and they can be global or private.
When creating the schedule we envisioned that there would be a set of Global Layouts used by everyone, but also one or two for each user. For example, a therapist might create a layout that just has themselves on the schedule, or maybe just themselves and a few PTAs or Technicians. This therapist could then pull up the schedule and just be dealing with their information.
Another example might be if you had an athletic trainer that came in every Friday and worked with the local sports team. He is only going to have working hours on Friday so most of his schedule would be blank. In the layouts editor if you only checked Friday and set Days to Scroll and Days to View to one the schedule would look as follows:
However; if you set days to view to be 7 you would see every Friday for the next 7 weeks:
The same concept would hold true if you had a therapist that came in on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you set days to view to be 8 you would get 4 weeks' worth of Tuesdays and Thursdays up on the screen at once.
One last note, if we orient the schedule above horizontally we can get 14 days of schedule on the screen at once:
