Cases: Demographics
The top half of the case dialog contains the biographical information about the Patient, Guarantor or Other Insured, with separate tabs for each. The information presented will change as various tabs are selected.
The right-click menu also changes depending on the tab selected, so if the Patient tab is selected, the right-click menu offers the option to Edit Patient Bio. If the Guarantor tab is selected, you will have the option to Edit Guarantor Bio, etc.
The Guarantor tab remains hidden until the Patient Is Guarantor button is deselected (turns grey). The button will turn to Patient Not Guarantor, indicating a separate entity from the patient is the insured party.
Selecting Edit Patient Bio will bring up the following dialog:
When editing the Guarantor or Other Insured, you will be given the option to choose the Entity type to specify Person or Company. If address information is the same as for the Patient or Other Insured, you can copy this information into the Guarantor by right-clicking and choosing Copy from Patient or Copy from Other Insured.
We are often asked about Other Insured and when it is used. Assume the following case: Little Johnny is coming to therapy. His Mom is the guarantor and is separated from her husband, who holds Johnny’s insurance policy. In this case, Johnny would be the Patient, Mom would be the Guarantor and would receive the patient statements, and Dad would be the Other Insured party.
NOTE: When entering a phone number in the Case, you can select the Type. This Type is user-defined and is controlled via Administration > General Information > General > Phone Types. See the chapter titled General Information Module for more information.
