Case Binder: Medications

Permissions! Clinic Staff must have Administrator, Billing Manager, Clinical Director, Front Office, Operations Manager, or Staff Therapist Permissions assigned in order to manage Case Binder.

Fusion Enterprise understands that managing all of your cases is a critical function of any practice. We have ensured that you can run all of your practices front office needs through Fusion Enterprise and make it as easy as we can. This series of introductory articles will cover the essential aspects of managing Case Binders with Fusion Enterprise.

The Medications tab allows you to maintain a medication list for a group of patient cases. This will enable the same medication list to be accessed between multiple cases.

Case binders also have the flexibility to have different medication lists for different groups of cases. We don’t anticipate that this will be used often, but flexibility is offered. In a typical scenario, we envision all patients in a binder belonging to the same Medication List.

The Medications tab shows a drop-down with all of the created Medications groups. Selecting a group shows the cases that are assigned to this particular group. Above we have a group called ‘Medication List’ with three cases assigned to it.

Note: A case may only belong to a single medication group.

The right-click menu has the following options:

Medication Menu

Add New Group	Allows you to add a new Medication Group
Edit Group	Allows you to edit the currently-selected Medication Group
Delete Group	Deletes the currently-selected Medication group.
Review Medications	Allows you to review the Medication List for this group.
Refresh	Refreshes the current screen and brings in any changes another user may have made while you were looking at the screen.
Close	Closes the screen.

When Adding or Editing a group you will be presented with the above screen. The Name is used to identify this medication list. The Case list allows you to select which cases you wish to put in the group. Any case that appears in orange is already part of another group and may not be added to this group. The Comment is for you use to describe the group.

Selecting Review Medications will bring up the following screen:

This screen shows this particular medication list’s history. The top portion is the detail of the medication list as set when we set up the list. The grid section of the screen shows the medication list’s history. Here we see we asked about the patient’s medications on 12/1/2015 and again on 12/4/2015. Each time, the patient reported that they were taking Asprin Orally 1x Day.

This Medication List is also available from the Charges and Documentation screen from the right- click menu.

The right-click menu from the Medications Review is as follows:

Update History	Allows you to update the medication history.
Remove Medication	Allows you to remove a medication from this medication history.
Refresh	Refreshes the current screen and brings in any changes another user may have made while you were looking at the screen.
Close	Closes the screen.

In therapy you tend to see the patient quite often, and the patient’s medication list does not typically change every visit. This screen should make updating the Medication list as quick and easy as possible.

When you select Update History a slide-out lets you choose to display the medications you selected on the patient’s last 1, 2, 3 or 4 visits.

Selecting Show Last Session brings up the following screen, showing the Medications I chose the last time I updated this history.

Here I can set the Effective Date of the medication and select the medications the patient is currently taking. If you right-click on the grid you can select Add New Medication, which brings you to the following screen:

Add A New Medication

Search Drug	Allows you to search through our database of Medications. We have the full FDA database in the system. Type in the first few letters of the drug name and the result window will populate. Double-click a medication, and it will fill in the Drug box at the bottom.
Search Route	Allows you to search through all the various routes of drug administration. Double-click a route, and it will populate the Route box at the bottom.
Drug	Allows you to type in the name of any drug you wish. This is useful if the drug is new and not in our database.
Route	Allows you to specify the route.
Dosage	Allows you to specify the dosage.
Frequency	Allows you to specify the frequency.
Other	Used for anything else you want to note about the medication.
