Patient Portal: Setting Up A Patient

Permissions! Clinic Staff must have Administrator assigned in order to manage the Patient Portal.

Fusion Enterprise understands that managing all of your cases is a critical function of any practice. We have ensured that you can run all of your practices front office needs through Fusion Enterprise and make it as easy as possible. This series of introductory articles will cover the essential aspects of managing the Patient Portal features with Fusion Enterprise.

To get a patient initially set up for the portal, you must first go to the patient's Binder. This allows a patient to have a single login for all of their various cases.

The last tab of the Binder contains the Patient Portal information. When you first view this tab all of the fields will be blank. Right-click, select Edit, and you will be presented with the following screen:

Patient Portal

Master Case	This is the master case for the portal, it will be the case number that the patient will use to log in.
Email	The email that the patient will use when registering.
Access Enabled	Enables / Disables patient access to the portal.
Selected Cases	All of the cases will be accessible from the patient login.
Comment	Place for an internal comment.

Once you have filled in the information and press OK you will be back to the Patient Portal tab in the binder.

Right-clicking brings up the following menu:

Edit	Allows you to edit the information on this tab.
Generate Lobby Password	Creates a temporary password for the patient to use the Portal in the Lobby to fill in paperwork. More on this in the Lobby Mode section of this chapter.
Register Patient	Bypasses the normal registration method, more on this below.
Send Portal Invitation	Sends an email to the patient with a link for them to login and register at the portal.
Refresh	Refreshes the current screen.
Close	Closes the menu

If you choose to Register Patient from the Binder, you are bypassing the patient’s need to register and verify his email. While this is a convenient feature, it does remove one of the layers of authentication.

Choosing ‘Register Patient’ will also overwrite any previous registration that the patient has performed and will replace their old password. Once you register the patient, the patient’s generated password will be shown on the screen:

You may right-click and select print and hand this to the patient. This is a temporary password and the portal will require the patient to change it the first time they log in.

The status message allows you to see the following information in this order:

Enabled / Disabled
Not Registered, Forced Registration, Normal Registration
No Invite / Invite
